Climate change is not just an environmental issue – it’s a health crisis. At Opella, our climate actions reflect the integral responsibility as a leading consumer healthcare company.

We commit to reach net-zero carbon emissions across our operations and value chain by 2050.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially validated our near- and long-term emissions reduction targets, confirming alignment with the global +1.5°C pathway and the Paris Agreement. The SBTi is a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

From a 2023 baseline and across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, covering everything from our operations and energy use to carbon impacts in our supply chain, packaging, logistics, and product lifecycles, we commit to:

  • -58.8% absolute emissions by 2034.
  • -90% absolute emissions by 2050.

This validation recognizes our targets as aligned with the Corporate Net-Zero Standard, the world’s first and only framework for corporate net-zero target setting in line with climate science.

Science is our compass and data is our roadmap. The SBTi’s validation confirms that our climate strategy is built on evidence and we are accountable to follow through. Decarbonizing our business is essential for long-term resilience and impact and we are proud to be part of a global movement that is turning ambition into action.

Achieving these goals will require transforming our operations, including sourcing low-carbon raw materials, redesigning packaging, shifting to 100% renewable electricity, and partnering with suppliers to meet their own science-based targets.
