Description / Scope of the Technical Need.

We are seeking next-generation packaging technologies that significantly enhance the consumer experience across the entire consumer journey with the product, from first interaction and use through to disposal.

We are interested in solutions that go beyond traditional packaging functions such as protection and storage, delivering meaningful differentiation through improved usability, convenience, inclusivity, sensoriality, engagement, adherence, portability, intuitiveness, and/or sustainability.

Solutions should address key consumer pain points, such as difficult opening, complex dosing, poor portability, limited guidance, low engagement, or non-intuitive use.

Ultimately, we are looking for packaging innovations that make products smarter, more compact, more intuitive, and more sensorial, creating a clear competitive advantage.

Proposed technologies should be differentiated, industrially ready, commercially viable, and suitable for Consumer Healthcare applications, meeting relevant product protection, safety, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.

Background.

Consumers increasingly expect healthcare products to deliver experiences comparable to those offered by leading consumer brands. While efficacy remains essential, packaging is becoming a key driver of choice, adherence, satisfaction, and brand loyalty.

Many healthcare packaging formats still present challenges in convenience, accessibility, portability, engagement, and emotional appeal. Next-generation packaging can transform everyday self-care into a simpler, more intuitive, enjoyable, and memorable experience.

We are looking for partners capable of redefining how consumers interact with self-care products through differentiated packaging innovation.

Key Success Criteria.

Must-have Requirements.

  • Demonstrated improvement in consumer experience versus current packaging solutions.
  • Clear and differentiated consumer benefit, addressing a relevant pain point such as usability, convenience, accessibility, portability, dosing, engagement, or adherence.
  • Suitability for Consumer Healthcare applications, including OTC medicines, medical devices, and/or food supplements.
  • Industrial readiness and scalability, with compatibility with relevant packaging and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to meet applicable product protection, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Commercially viable cost structure or a credible pathway to acceptable cost at scale.

Preferred Requirements.

  • Patented, patent-pending, or proprietary technology with a defensible competitive advantage.
  • Demonstrated consumer validation or user-testing evidence.
  • Potential to support a premium and differentiated product proposition.
  • Applicability across multiple product categories, formats, or brands.
  • Inclusive design principles, supporting intuitive and accessible use across diverse consumer needs, abilities, and age groups.
  • Sustainability benefits, such as reduced material use, improved recyclability, or lower environmental impact.

Approaches not of interest.

  • Packaging solutions with no meaningful sustainability benefit or with a higher environmental impact than current alternatives.
  • Generic or conventional packaging concepts with limited differentiation or consumer added value.
  • Early-stage concepts lacking sufficient validation, industrial readiness, or scalability.
  • Solutions that compromise product protection, safety, quality, or regulatory compliance.
  • Solutions with unacceptable cost implications and no credible pathway to commercial viability.
